Oh yeah, I make food.

***IMPORTANT*** I desperately need some testers for the zine. I have some, but i’m trying to hurry things along so i’d like more. The first issue is only going to have twelve recipes, if you test more than five you get a free copy. You need a livejournal account, so if you have one and want to help me out, leave your user name and i’ll send you an invite. Okay? Okay. Back to the food.

I actually forgot to blog my food pictures from the last week or so. Oops!

This is easily the best thing I made all week, Southern-Style Banana Pudding from Fatree Vegan Kitchen. I made it to take to Southern Illinois for a Mothers Day Picnic. We didn’t have the money to go all the way to Springfield, so we met Brian’s parents halfway. I couldn’t find any vanilla cookies except sandwich cookies, so I just twisted them in half. I debated scraping the frosting out, but I didn’t want to waste it so I didn’t. Next time I will, or just make my own cookies because it was really sugary even though I followed the low sugar version of the recipe. This picture was taken right after I made it, after a three hour trip in the car it didn’t look quite as nice and the cookies were all soggy from condensation. It still tasted fine, but I won’t make it again for anything that requires travel time.

Actually, I still have some non-frosted sides of the cookies left. Maybe I should make a mini-pudding?

(The brown stuff is cinnamon.)

And here’s the rest of what we took with us. Tofurkey sandwich, Herbed Tomato Potato Salad, and a quinoa black bean salad, which I didn’t follow a recipe for, but it’s basically the same as this, with quinoa.

This is another try at making up a Pasta Primavera recipe from last week. It’s a work in progress.

And this is a grilled cheez I made using Vegan brand mozzarella slices. The taste on these is fine, but the texture is weird. Not horrible, just kind of pasty. I keep buying fake cheese to experiment with, even though I do not miss cheese at all. It’s weird.

This is a curry I made with tofu, red beans, and brown rice. I have no idea how to make a real curry, I just make this shit up as I go along. Which is also why I never post recipes, because unless it’s going in the zine, I don’t really measure or write anything down.

And finally, the pizza that we had on Monday. I sauteed onions, green peppers, and mushrooms and used a packet of (I can’t remember the brand) mozz style nooch sauce for the cheese. I was wary of using nooch on pizza, but it was very yummy. Even though I did overcook the pizza a little bit.

Was the nooch sauce for the pizza the Road’s End brand? It looks impressive!

Oh for goodness sake! I’m cruising through all the links of people who have made this pudding to kill time while my gluten free, egg free, dairy free wafers are cooking so I can put them in the pudding. Now I get to yours and it reminds me that I have Kinnikinnick sandwich cookies in the pantry! Oh well, you can never have too many cookies. Right?

  9. I benefit from looking through your websites. Thanks a ton!
