» VeganMoFo Don’t Eat Off The Sidewalk!

VeganMoFo

veganmofo.jpgSo it’s like…that month where a bunch of people try to write a 50,000 word novel. Isa (of the PPK) decided that having something similar but involving vegans and food sounded like a good idea, and I think it is too so i’m going to do it. It’s pretty loose and different people are doing it in their own way. My goal is to publish one entry related to food every day. It might be a photojournal of what I ate for the day, a new recipe, me blathering on about how much I love tofurkey italian sausages…whatever.

If you would like to join in on the VeganMo(nth of)Fo(od), here are some ideas that we came up with for ‘inspiration’.

  • Your first vegan/vegetarian restaurant memory
  • Something you used to cook but don’t anymore
  • Try to cook/bake something that intimidates you
  • Write about your grandma’s holiday cooking
  • your favorite dish to bring to a potluck
  • your favorite meal to cook for people who are scared of vegan food
  • your favorite meal to cook for your parents/in-laws
  • use an grain you’ve never used before
  • use a fruit or vegetable you’ve never used before
  • veganize a recipe from your childhood
  • cook dinner for a friend as a surprise and drop it off right after work
  • cook an all-local ingredients meal
  • Write about your favorite songs to cook to
  • Keep a photo food journal for the entire day
  • Veganize a recipe
  • Tell the story of the first time you tried tofu
  • Take a cookbook that you don’t use very often and make one new recipe out of it every day for a week
  • Post pictures of yourself wearing nothing but Earth Balance and a smile

(I think it’s obvious what I contributed to that list.)

P.S. If you want to use my crappy little banner, save it and use your own photo hosting because it’s actually on my sever, not Flickr.

  • Wow, what a great idea! I don’t know if I could pull off an entire month, but it’s definitely worth a try. 🙂

  • I love it! I’m going to join you!

  • Andria

Mmmmm….Earth Balance. I still have dreamy visions about that giant tub you bought at Food Fantasies last time you were in town.

  • I’m totally geeking out over VeganMoFo. I’m compiling an rss feed of just VeganMoFo’ing blogs… ’cause I’m geeking out, man.

P.S. This is ilubobbybrown off the PPK.

P.P.S. I’m eagerly awaiting your next zine.

  • Andria, I still HAVE that giant tub. It’s like a bottomless pit of EB.

  • I think the graphic is just right. I’m going to give this a try too.

  • ohhh this is what the heck VeganMoFo is. I thought it was a new username.

  • This is really, really making me miss having a fucking kitchen.
I really want to participate, but thinking about food will undoubtedly make me saddened. Stupid cafe.

  • I’ll join….assuming it’s ok that I’m 2 days late.

  • Andria

Yeah Katie I bet you will still have that tub when Brian gets back in May even. PS I emailed my caterer and mentioned I could give him a vegan pad thai recipe in case he needs it. I’ll keep you updated….

  • Count me in 🙂 (started on November 1st)

  • Hi, I just joined VeganMoFo, and lifted your banner for my post, so I wanted to come here and thank you for creating it and getting this whole thing off and running.

    Cheers!

  • I love this idea and will join up, too! Also lifting the banner, also thanking you for creating it and being proactively awesome! 🙂

  • I’m in it to win it. Or at least not lose it.

  • I am in. Cooking up a vegan storm in the month of November. Shoot, I am always cooking up a vegan storm, but this month I will try and have a doozie of a storm.

  • Yah! I already do this every day! I have a food journal
