Dear people who I sometimes see face to face:

The commissary now sells reuseable shopping totes.  They’re 70 cents each.  I don’t know about you, but my house is overflowing with plastic bags because even when I ask for paper*, they always find a reason to wrap something in plastic.  Anyway, if I but a big stack do you want some?  I was thinking Christmas gifts but I didn’t want everyone to ‘wtf’ at me.  So if you want some, just let me know.  I would guess that they can hold about $25 worth of groceries a piece.  I bought four for myself.

*I always ask for paper, but sometimes the baggers don’t listen and some places don’t even use paper at all!

One of the first times i brought my own bags to the grocery, I told the bagger that I had my own bags and handed them to him. I wasn’t really paying attention, and when I got home, I realized he had bagged all my groceries in plastic and then put the plastic bags into my totes. If it hadn’t been so hilarious, I might have been angry!

  • Last winter I begun something really funny: I first cut a few plastic bag into a long spiral from an handle to the bottom of the bag. Then I knitted a reusable big shopping tote with it. This is a kind of fun hippie shit to do.

Haha I love that this is tagged “hippie shit”. YES I want some resuable bags for cheap! I always see them places like Schnucks and shit but they are way overpriced. If you get me a handful I’ll pay you some moolaa.
