VeganMoFo: Iron Chef #2.
Sorry this is so late, my uterus took me prisoner and forced me to watch Firefly and eat tater tots all day. It was miserable.
We had a lot of desserts this time, and I can’t tell you how hard it is to look at all of these pictures when all I want to do is fall face first into a chocolate cake.
All of the bases were covered. We had strudel, muffins, caramel sauce (holy crap), more caramel, sandies, pancakes, cheesecake, a galette, dessert pizza, baked pears, mini-pies, and more muffins. I hate you all for torturing me, you inconsiderate jerks!
On the savory side we have a pear and hazelnut feta salad, stuffed squash, and stuffing.
There are two honorable mentions. First, Jenn because she didn’t make just one dish, she made a complete dinner from drink to dessert. Second, A-K for making this amazing looking raw dessert. Not only does it sound good, but the pictures are amazing.
As for what I made, it’s not pretty but it was good! I spent the day playing Rock Band and got home starving, so I threw this together pretty quickly. I grilled my pears (which you should do, because holy crap is that good). I made my sauce with almond butter, soy sauce, ginger sauteed in hot chile oil, and coconut milk. I threw in some fried tofu and eggplant for good measure and then sprinkled almond meal on top. In hindsight I should’ve added more color.
